The Firecracker Fairy
Ashleigh Wehmeyer has been writing country music full time for the last seven years. She began singing and writing songs while still in high school. When asked by her son's teacher to come and share her talents with his class, Ashleigh decided to try her hand at writing for the pre-school set. Not only was it a success, but also a delight. It was there that the Firecracker Fairy was born. Ashleigh is continuing to write and perform for young children, using her own two sons for inspiration for her touching, truthful, and humorous songs. Following the Fairy Golden Rule of "not leaving anyone out," Ashleigh also conducts writing workshops for kids of ALL ages, no wand required! She is a member of the Austin Songwriters Group, the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI), American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and Just Plain Folks Online Music Community where she has served as the Songwriter Forum's moderator for nearly five years. Currently, Ashleigh resides in central Texas with her two small boys and her husband, Marc.
Ashleigh has had background checks conducted by Killeen ISD, Fort Hood, & the Archdiocese of Austin. She volunteers in her children's school and in their religious education program.
